Our end users control the server updates, and only upgrade versions when ready.
They are currently running 2020.2.11 (released 2/25/2021)
But PMP is pushing out the 2020.4.2 client (also released 2/25/2021)
This is causing issues due to the client being on a higher version.
This could be fixed by PMP if you had additional subversions under Updates and ConfigMgr Apps
Tableau Software
Tableau Desktop 20 (x64)
Tableau Desktop 2020.4
Tableau Desktop 2020.3
Tableau Desktop 2020.2
Tableau Desktop 2020.1
Tableau Desktop 19 (x64)
etc
etc
Tableau is still actively patching those versions as seen on their releases page: https://www.tableau.com/support/releases
This would allow us to uncheck 2020.4 and 2020.3 and keep users patched on the same version until they are ready to upgrade and then we can adjust things for them.
Even if you couldn't add the additional granular checkboxes under PMP Publishing, if you were still able to publish updates for the additional versions, it could be filtered by ADR Title so that we could target users with a specific version until they were ready to move up.
This has been done for a while, marking as shipped.
We've adjusted the rules for Tableau Desktop 2021, and are looking at adding the different versions for each 2020 point release this month.
Because we do not want multiple updates in the catalog to evaluate as applicable on a single device, each update will only ever be applicable for that corresponding point release. (2020.4.5 will only ever update 2020.4.0 - 2020.4.4, they will not be applicable to older releases like 2020.3.x). This means that upgrades to new major versions will need to be done via application and not an update. We do this because have to anticipate that some customers will select everything in the catalog and deploy it at once.
