Nuance Dragon Medical One Extensions

This is for the extensions only. Standalone app will be a different request.

Doc for Virtual Environment setup.

These extensions provide custom audio channel implementations for Citrix Workspace Apps using the Dragon Medical One service.

  • Nuance Citrix Client Audio Extension: for the audio channel improvements.

  • Nuance PowerMic Citrix Client Extension: to support PowerMic (Dictation Microphone) device buttons and actions.

  • Other virtual app delivery systems are supported as well like RDS and VMWare.

  • Has extensions for 3rd party Microphones as well.

They are frequently used by medical staff to dictate patient notes through our published medical charting applications, using either a cell-phone(using an app) or a dictation microphone.

Complexity is that it needs to be installed over the existing Citrix Workspace install as it's a requirement. (see requirements)

As I understand, it drops a few .dll's into the Citrix ICA directory and registers itself as a product. As it requires Citrix, it needs the Workspace App to terminate( wfica32.exe), looks like the installer does it by itself already if you don't close it. We chose to not let it terminate as this impacts our top productivity application.

Here is the download link with a few other extensions:

https://dragonmedicalone.nuance.com/StandAlone/#pills-virtual

It supports system wide silent installs that are signed.

Requires Workspace to not be running.

We haven't had a need to run any custom post install scripts.

Having them in PatchMyPC would be pretty helpful for us healthcare folks.

I found that the release notes are actually available on the community forums behind a login.

The updates are released alongside Dragon Medical One package.

This is rather complex as Artem mentioned. I currently use the PSADT to detect if there is a Citrix connection and if so prompt the user with 3 deferrals. This works really well, however, the media in my experience is not consistent. As mentioned, some dlls are placed on the machine but also registry writes which tell Workspace which dll to use. Sometimes these keys are not generated and Workspace will fail to run, at least from a Storefront.

This is so important for the hospitals and would be absolutely incredible if added to our catalog.

    Thanks Artem for the submission.
