Npcap OEM

Npcap is required by Wireshark to perform captures. Wireshark is updated by Patch My PC, but Npcap is not. I assume this is because it doesn't offer a silent install, but it would be helpful to be able to automatically distribute it even if user interaction is required. Since it's the sort of thing used only by IT, that wouldn't be such a big issue.

The free edition of Npcap does not support silent installation, and we only include applications in our catalog that provide a reliable silent install method. Additionally, the free version of Npcap is licensed strictly for non‑commercial use. We offer the Npcap OEM package in the catalog for customers who have the appropriate licensing.

What do you mean shipped? When you go to add the manage files, its looking for the OEM version of the exe which requires a license. Can this be allowed to add the Free version of the exe? Also as the free version doesnt come with a silent install switch, can we have the option to deploy with interaction from the user?

    Hey

The default behaviour for a Wireshark uninstall is to remove the core components but keep your personal settings and Npcap. Npcap is kept in case other programs need it.

Would also be nice to have NPCAP uninstall when Wireshark uninstalls.

NPCAP provides a silent installer with their OEM version, However this requires a license.

We will review this internally and see if we can add this to our catalogue, However it would most likely be a local content repository product because it is licensed.
