The installer can be ran unattended with the options --unattended --auto-install=yes however it can not be silent. There is a progress dialogue always given to the user. (see image attached)
For this, the vendor recommends installing with the "command-line installer" which is a separate binary.
This separate installer binary has two challenges:
The binary is embedded in a .zip file, which today we do not support because we want to maintain combability with customers using SCUP and in-console ConfigMgr publishing
The binary itself does not contain the files necessary to install, it downloads more files either before the install (needing another call to then install using the newly downloaded files), or download files on the fly from the Internet from the device trying to install the software.
I'm marking this as incompatible for now. For all products in our catalogue we strive for a silent installation that the user cannot see or interact with. The separate installer binary also poses challenges which today we cannot work with.
Not particularly fussed in regards which TeX distribution was offered as long as there was one, MiKTeX as asked for here would be fine as would TeX Live.
I just wanted to let you all know we haven't forgotten about this request. We are working through some others at the moment that more unique customers are following. If any others come across this idea, please vote it up if it's one you would like to see added.
