It is kinda sad that we have no option for MSI version. I need to use the parameters for mass deployment. I think I will stick to my own solution with deployment in Intune.
I'm curious to know how many people need to mass deploy TeamViewer Host through SCCM/Intune etc. via PMP that also does not need customisation and assignment features, they're quite important at scale.
Even sideloading an MSI, and perhaps using a batchjob to download new versions, is a major improvement as it means one doesn't have to use PowerShell, with SCCM Module, to package up SCCM Applications and Deployment Types manually, not to mention how one even packages WSUS updates, signs and slip streams them.
Without customisation and assignment support with this PMP packaged version, I guess I'll still be using those PowerShell scripts.
We always try to use a publicly available download, the MSI is not available for download publicly, so if we went with the MSI, our customers would have to download the MSI manually and provide it to the Patch My PC Publisher.
Agree with J S' comment - while the host module is downloaded as a 'customized' installer, as long as the MSI file name is preserved through to the install on the client it should work fine via the manual download process in PatchMyPC.
I just wanted to let you all know we haven't forgotten about this request. We are working through some others at the moment that more unique customers are following. If any others come across this idea, please vote it up if it's one you would like to see added.
We definitely understand the shortcomings of the exe install compared to the MSI.
In terms of customization, if a customized TeamViewer Host is already installed, does installing our exe overwrite the customizations?
I have also done some research, would this be feasible for customizing TeamViewer using Post-Scripts? https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base-EN/Mass-deployment-improvements/ta-p/39639#toc-hId--442846263
Thank you all for the comments!

We use the EXE for 2 main reasons:
We always try to use a publicly available download, the MSI is not available for download publicly, so if we went with the MSI, our customers would have to download the MSI manually and provide it to the Patch My PC Publisher.
We already use the exe for Teamviewer full
The package details show this is using TeamViewer_Host_Setup.exe – not the MSI they provide for mass deployments.
Any reason why? Issue is the exe method doesn’t support customisation and automatic assignment…
We will have this app available with our next catalog update (Likely 12/1/2020)
We'll be looking at this app very soon!
Has there been any movement on this request?

It would be a great addition to our environment.

TeamViewer Host MSI could be done through the application pickup directory (Like Java) too.
