Currently to update a Custom App, you have to download the latest installer manually and then go upload it into PMPC Cloud.
I'd love to see a feature that lets us define a Download URL for a custom app (similar to how software in the Catalog have a Download URL). Then on some regular interval, PMPC Publisher would download the installer using the custom URL we defined.
The hash / version info of the newly downloaded installer would then be compared with what is currently in PMPC Cloud. If the hash is different and the version is higher, the next step would be getting that new installer into PMPC Cloud.
I think that having 2 options here would be good:
1) A setting for the update to automatically be published
2) A setting that requires approval before the update gets published
This way we can manually validate the update if desired for security/functionality reasons, but for others just let it automatically update.
A nice addition to this would be to have a proxy agent (maybe could be included as part of the publisher) that could be used to download the installer. This would help with installers that are Geo or IP locked.
I would seriously help code this for $free.99. This is at least a $100k a year idea. Instead of file, give me a spot to put a link. Download the installer and scalp the metadata to see if it’s an updated version. If updated, build the new version. Example of this is I work with a handful of agents where they have tokens built into the installers to associate it to my org. I have static links to my specific installer download.
