Conflicting Processes with 1618 return takes too long

I want to avoid using the notification feature although it may come in handy for certain situations in the future. I am using "skip installation" I find it irritating that a failed installation/uninstallation it takes 10 whole minutes to return the error 1618, especially when it's visible in the company portal and one has to wait to finally find out it failed. I would just like to be instant or even 10 seconds. Then it can retry and retry till the application is closed

Unfortunately, Patch My PC doesn’t have control over this. It’s just how the Intune Management Extension (IME) works when it handles install success or failure.

When the installer returns a 1618 error code, Intune will attempt to install the app again three times, every 5 minutes (resulting in a total of over 15 minutes for the retry attempts). If all those tries fail, IME marks the install as failed. For Required assignments, the IME will then retry the install 24 hours later.

If you want the install to fail right away instead of retrying, you can use the Return Codes configuration tool in our Portal. Just set the 1618 code to Failed instead of Retry. That way, if Intune sees a 1618 error, it won’t try again - it’ll just stop and mark the software installation as Failed immediately.

You can read more about how IME handles these codes and retries here:
