GIT LFS is the standard tool to handle binary files efficiently under GIT repos. Every developer works nowadays in one form or another with GIT repos, so the tool should be used widely by developers. GIT LFS is available as a standalone version available from here https://git-lfs.com/. However, there is no automated update procedure available for it which makes it difficult to keep installed versions up to date if managing manually.
