Additional vendor warranty options for Advanced Insights

We have Dell and Lenovo in our environment and being able to add those for warranty info has been great to have, but we also have a large amount of Panasonic Toughbooks in our org and that's a big blank in our warranty info. Could more warranty vendors be added so we could possibly have this included?

    Hi Patch My PC team,

    For the Advanced Insights Warranty Dashboard idea, we would like to request broad warranty reporting support across the full hardware estate — not only laptops and desktops, but also monitors, docks, printers, MFPs, barcode/label printers, headsets, webcams, IP phones, meeting-room devices, collaboration endpoints, rugged devices, servers, network equipment, UPS units, KVMs and business peripherals.

    The existing idea already mentions warranty tracking for common OEMs such as Lenovo, HP, Dell and Surface, and asks which vendors customers are interested in. We would like to expand the vendor scope to better reflect what is typically deployed in enterprise environments.


    Priority 1 — Core Enterprise OEM / API Candidates

    These vendors would provide the highest value first, ideally using official API or entitlement integrations where available:

    • Dell

    • HP

    • Lenovo

    • Microsoft Surface

    • Cisco

    These vendors are commonly used for enterprise laptops, desktops, workstations, servers, network equipment and collaboration devices. Cisco should not be limited to switches/routers/firewalls only, as Cisco also provides collaboration endpoints such as headsets, phones, room devices and cameras. Cisco documents business headsets and Webex collaboration devices including phones, headsets, cameras, room devices and desk devices.

    For Dell and HP, please also include docks, monitors and peripherals, not just PCs. Dell docking stations can have a Service Tag or Express Service Code used for warranty/support lookup, and HP’s warranty/support scope includes computers, printers and Poly Collaboration Devices.


    Priority 2 — PCs, Servers, Rugged Devices, Monitors and Displays

    Please also consider support for:

    • Acer

    • Supermicro

    • Samsung

    • LG

    • EIZO

    • Getac

    • Wortmann / TERRA

    • Panasonic Toughbook

    • Toshiba / Dynabook

    • Sony

    • NEC / Sharp NEC

    • BenQ

    • iiyama

    • Philips

    • ViewSonic

    These vendors cover a mix of PCs, servers, rugged laptops/tablets, monitors, professional displays, signage displays, AV/display hardware and endpoint devices.


    Priority 3 — Printers, MFPs, Label Printers and Barcode Devices

    Printer and MFP lifecycle visibility would also be very useful, especially where devices are covered by warranty, support pack, lease or managed print contracts.

    • Kyocera

    • DYMO

    • Konica Minolta

    • Ricoh

    • Zebra

    • OKI

    • Brother

    • Canon

    • Lexmark

    • Epson

    • Xerox

    For printers and MFPs, it would be useful if the dashboard could track both manufacturer warranty and service/maintenance contract information where available, because many printer fleets are managed through reseller or managed print agreements.


    Priority 4 — Collaboration, Headset, Webcam and Meeting-Room Vendors

    Please also include business collaboration peripherals and room devices:

    • Logitech / Logitech Business

    • Poly / HP Poly

    • Jabra

    • EPOS

    • Cisco headsets / phones / Webex devices

    • Dell collaboration peripherals

    • HP / Poly collaboration peripherals

    This is important because many organizations now manage large numbers of USB headsets, Bluetooth headsets, webcams, speakerphones, conference cameras, room systems, Teams/Webex/Zoom room devices, IP phones and collaboration accessories.

    Logitech Business has Sync device management, support ticketing, contract/license management and API documentation, and Logitech B2B support also supports bulk product registration via CSV for multiple business products.

    Poly is now handled through HP support, with support categories for headsets, phones, video conferencing, software and services, and HP also references Poly Lens Admin Cloud for device deployment management.

    Jabra has a warranty checker using serial number lookup, and EPOS provides a warranty portal with warranty validation and an option to check multiple devices.


    Priority 5 — Accessories, Docks, KVM, UPS and Power Infrastructure

    Please also consider common enterprise accessory and infrastructure vendors:

    • StarTech.com

    • ATEN

    • Eaton

    • Schneider Electric / APC

    • Keychron

    • NuPhy

    • CalDigit

    • Targus

    • Kensington

    These vendors cover assets that are often deployed in large quantities but are not always tracked well in ITAM systems: USB-C/Thunderbolt docks, KVM switches, AV extenders, USB/video/network adapters, UPS units, rack PDUs, laptop locks, privacy filters, keyboards, mice, power adapters and other accessories.

    StarTech.com provides product-specific warranty terms and lifetime technical support. ATEN provides product registration, repair status query by RMA or serial number, and warranty policy information. Eaton and Schneider Electric/APC both support UPS warranty/registration workflows using serial numbers.

    For keyboard and accessory vendors, API support may be limited, but warranty tracking could still be useful through CSV/manual/invoice-based workflows. Keychron and NuPhy publish one-year warranty terms, while CalDigit, Targus and Kensington provide warranty/support processes for docks, accessories and peripherals.


    Desired Dashboard Fields

    Ideally, the Warranty Dashboard would include:

    • Manufacturer

    • Device category

    • Model

    • SKU / product number

    • Serial number / service tag

    • Asset name

    • Primary user

    • Site / department

    • Purchase date

    • Warranty start date

    • Warranty end date

    • Warranty status:

      • Active

      • Expiring soon

      • Expired

      • Unknown

    • Warranty type or service level

    • Contract number, if available

    • Source of warranty data:

      • Vendor API

      • Vendor portal

      • Bulk upload

      • CSV import

      • Manual entry

      • Invoice/reseller

    • Last checked date

    • Lookup status

    • Lookup error

    • Confidence level of warranty data


    Useful Dashboard Views

    Useful reporting views would include:

    • Warranty expiring in 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 days

    • Expired warranty devices

    • Devices missing warranty information

    • Devices with failed warranty lookup

    • Warranty by manufacturer

    • Warranty by device type

    • Warranty by site / department

    • Low-confidence warranty data

    • Docks and monitors without warranty data

    • Printers / MFPs under warranty or support contract

    • Headsets, webcams, phones and meeting-room devices approaching end of support

    • UPS / PDU / power infrastructure warranty status

    • Devices with manual or invoice-based warranty only


    Bulk Import, API and Fallback Requirements

    It would be very helpful if Advanced Insights supported multiple warranty data methods:

    1. Direct API lookup where vendors support it

    2. Bulk lookup where vendors allow multiple serial numbers

    3. CSV import for vendors without public APIs

    4. Manual warranty override for exceptions

    5. Invoice-based warranty fallback

    6. Failed lookup reporting

    7. Confidence scoring

    Suggested confidence logic:

    • High = direct vendor API result

    • Medium/High = official vendor portal or bulk-upload result

    • Medium = invoice or reseller-confirmed warranty

    • Low = manually entered or incomplete data

    • Unknown = no reliable warranty source


    Why This Matters

    A Warranty Dashboard would be very valuable for:

    • Hardware lifecycle planning

    • Budget forecasting

    • Device refresh planning

    • Identifying unsupported or out-of-warranty assets

    • Tracking warranty gaps across non-PC assets

    • Managing docks, monitors, printers and peripherals

    • Managing meeting-room and collaboration hardware

    • Supporting audit and compliance reporting

    • Reducing manual warranty lookups across many vendor portals

    This would make the Warranty Dashboard useful for the complete hardware estate, not only laptops and desktops, but also monitors, docks, printers, MFPs, label/barcode devices, headsets, webcams, phones, room systems, UPS units, KVMs, AV devices and other business peripherals.
