Keep unofficial versions of applications out of your database
I have been using PatchMyPC for a few months. Suddenly I am seeing applications (VLC & Opera) as needing update, which do NOT have newer versions on the publisher's website. I think your database of applications is getting some entries before their time.

Please submit individual support tickets if you believe we've shipped the incorrect version of a product, so that we can review them on a case-by-case basis.
We use a variety of sources for updates, most commonly the vendor website but we also plug into the same back end feeds as an app's built-in auto-updater where possible.
VLC has had a new version in pre-release for some time now, but after a few weeks wait it has finally hit their main download page, so we are shipping this today.

For Opera, we monitor the version on their download page also (e.g. https://download.opera.com/download/get/?partner=www&opsys=Windows&arch=x64).
