Feature Request: Microsoft Visual Studio Code Extension Inventory in Advanced Insights

Hi PatchMyPC Team,

We are currently using Advanced Insights in our Microsoft Configuration Manager environment and have found the browser extension reporting extremely helpful.

I wanted to ask whether there are any existing capabilities (or planned enhancements) to inventory Microsoft Visual Studio Code extensions in a similar way to how browser extensions are reported.

Our goal would be to gain visibility into which VS Code extensions are installed across devices for governance and security review purposes.

If this is not currently supported, could you please advise:

  • Whether this is something on your roadmap

  • If there is a recommended method to extend inventory for VS Code extensions

  • Or if this would require a custom hardware inventory class or configuration on our end

Any guidance or best practices you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and for the continued improvements to Advanced Insights.

Best regards,

Thanks for this Idea - we will add it to our development Backlog and look into this.

Since GIthub just got hacked by a malicious extension, this is very timely!
