At the moment we have the option to use QGIS Latest or a specific LTR version.
Using Latest has issues with some plug-ins, so we need to use an LTR version.
However, in our case it doesn't matter with LTR version we use, as long as it's an LTR version.
At the moment our workflow is
Enable new major LTR (3.44) in the publisher
Assign the application in Intune
E-mail end-users to manually install the latest LTR from software center (because we publish software as available, not as required)
Check whether everyone has installed te latest version.
Uncheck the previous LTR (3.40) in publisher
Remove previous LTR + updates from Intune
To make matters worse, we are an MSP, so we have to do this for every client.
Having a LTR Latest version of QGIS would allow to update QGIS automatically to the latest major LTR release.
Minor updates are obviously not a problem, since they are always updated and installed automatically through updates.
