Ente Photos Desktop already includes a built-in automatic updater. According to Ente's official documentation, desktop updates are automatically downloaded and installed when new versions are deployed.
Patch My PC Home Updater support would therefore be useful primarily for centralized application management rather than replacing Ente's own updater. It would allow users to:
Install Ente Photos together with their other applications through Home Updater
See the installed and available versions in one place
Reinstall or deploy the application without manually downloading it
Keep application management consistent even on systems where Ente is not regularly launched
Manage Ente alongside the rest of the software maintained through Patch My PC
Current Windows release information:
Product: Ente Photos Desktop
Vendor: Ente
Current version: 1.7.27
Current release date: 2026-07-31
Windows architecture: x64
Official Windows installer: https://github.com/ente/photos-desktop/releases/download/v1.7.27/ente-1.7.27-x64.exe
Ente publishes versioned Windows installers directly through GitHub Releases as well as updater metadata (latest.yml), which should provide a predictable source for version detection and package maintenance.
I understand that Ente already maintains itself through its own updater, but Home Updater support would still be useful for users who want one central application inventory and update/deployment mechanism for their Windows software.
