Add Serial Number Reporting for USB Printers

Advanced Insights already provides inventory reporting for printers. We would like to request an enhancement to extend the existing printer inventory and include the serial number for locally connected USB printers, where the device exposes this information.

Many organisations have multiple identical USB printers deployed across their estate. While the current inventory allows us to identify the printer manufacturer and name, it is often not possible to uniquely identify the physical device without the serial number.

Adding a Serial Number field to the existing printer inventory would provide significant value for:

• Asset management and auditing

• Device lifecycle and warranty tracking

• Support and troubleshooting

• Identification of unauthorised peripherals

• Estate-wide reporting on connected USB printers

We have an in-house script that we are using currently to gather this information and as much we know this is possible to gather and have provided this to the PMPC AI team for review. I am submitting this idea, as hopefully this would be useful for other organisations using AI.
