We currently use Snagit under a version-specific licensing model where our license key is only valid for Snagit 2026 and deploy the Windows Snagit 2026 package from the PMPC catalog. We like to manage macOS devices using the same major-version lifecycle approach.
In the Patch My PC catalog, Windows has both version-specific entries (Snagit 2021-2026) and a "Snagit Latest" entry. The version-specific entries allow us to stay on a licensed major version while still receiving updates within that version.
For macOS, however, the catalog currently only offers:
Snagit 2024
Snagit Latest
This creates a challenge for organizations using version-specific licensing. Deploying Snagit Latest is not a viable option because when TechSmith releases the next major version, Patch My PC will automatically upgrade clients to that version, and our existing Snagit 2026 license key would no longer be valid.
Request:
Please add macOS support to the existing Snagit 2026 catalog entry (or create a version-specific Snagit 2026 macOS entry) so organizations can:
Deploy Snagit 2026 to both Windows and macOS devices.
Receive updates within the Snagit 2026 release train.
Avoid automatic upgrades to future major versions that require new licensing.
This would bring feature parity between the Windows and macOS catalog offerings and better support organizations that purchase perpetual/version-specific Snagit licenses.
Business Impact:
Without a version-specific macOS entry, customers must either remain on an older macOS version (2024) or deploy Snagit Latest and risk automatic upgrades to unsupported major versions, creating licensing and user experience issues.
