When using the "Scan Configuration Manager Database for Supported Products" feature, if there is both an EXE and MSI installer for the app (e.g. VLC, 7-Zip, Snagit) the scan returns the same count for both, indicating that it is not able to distinguish which "edition" is installed on a given machine.
The information is available in the ConfigMgr database, so it ought to possible for the scan to tell them apart.
