I work for the State Of California. There is a web app that tens of thousands of state employees use that require Java. They also support free Java alternatives IcedTea Web and/or AdoptOpenJDK 8. It would be handy to have those available in Patch My PC.
We are looking into this app and hope to add it, however. We did come across something weird when checking out this application. Both AdoptOpenJDK and Azul Zulu package this app, and they create almost the exact same MSI package.... which means that Patch My PC determining which vendor's version is installed will be nearly impossible in terms of applicability rules. The workaround we plan to provide (since the apps should be identical), will be to have a prescript that removes all previous versions of icedtea-web before installing the latest. That way multiple entries of the app will not occur.
