Autodesk Licensing Service

With Autodesk Access running on the pc, the user will be prompted to install updates for Autodesk Licensing service among others. The non-admin user will be prompted with a UAC prompt for admin credential when trying to press update.

You got a few options at that point.

1 Make the user an admin...............don't do that

2. remote the pc and use you admin priviliges on the device........not in a million years, you got better things to do.......

2. Tell the user to ignore the prompting for updates..................They will probably not like that approach and will keep on being irritated by the popup and Autodesk components will never be updated which might be a security vulnerability.

3 Disable Autodesk Access from prompting the user to install the updates, use the regkey named DisableManualUpdateInstall ..........The user will never know..however the Autodesk components will never be updated which might be a security vulnerability.

4. Allow Autodesk Access to install the updates in System context, when the user press the update button.......It's a Win-Win. Use the regkey AllowSystemContextInstall , go to https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACCESS/ENU/?guid=GUID-C369BE4F-F0D9-4D48-AFE6-004E37977F45 for information and limitations

Autodesk Licensing Service will be difficult to add with our current version of the Publisher as there is no entry in Add/Remove Programs so our current detection scripts will not work. We are looking at adding File Version Detection capabilities which would make this possible in the future. Changing the status to Future Consideration.

We are also interested in this, since users get prompted by AutoCAD to get this updated even though AutoCAD is patched via PatchMyPC updates.
