PMPC Cloud Portal - macOS Custom Apps

It would be nice to have the ability to also add macOS custom apps using the Cloud Portal.

This has hit our top 10 so wanted to take a second and address it.

Our main hangup here has been our inability to add what feels like meaningful value given the limited design within Intune for macOS apps. We can't add a wrapper like ScriptRunner that fills the gaps we know exist. Most frustrating for me personally is that Intune doesn't provide us a way to update existing available installs. I've tried, and failed, to get the Intune product team to understand why it's a big problem.

What I'm hearing you all say here is that the primary motivation for custom apps is to avoid context switching between Intune and PMPC. Totally grok the quality of life benefit there. The amount of engineering to make it happen is non-trivial however so it's been hard to prioritize. That said, it's now in our top 10 so that really helps get it moved up the list.

Please add the custom app MacOS feature. For example, Teamviewer are stored in the katalog serveral times for Windows, but TeamViewer does also provide a MacOS version, what is so difficult to add this app in the official catalog? Or Add the feature Add Custom App, pleeease. This would be great. Thanks for help to the whole Team :)

Introducing this feature will allow us to store and configure everything in one place. I hope this feature will come soon.

I have been super happy seeing Mac support slowly come to the cloud portal. We have moved our setup entirely to PMPC Cloud, and it has been a dream. This would allow us to further move away from having to manage tools in Intune directly.

Allowing Custom MacOS apps would allow us to 1 Eco system the management of Applicaitons across out Windows and mac estate meaning we wont be required to have to manage apps in intune And PMPC for those not supported means we would need to have manual list to track outside of Patch my PC also

MAC Custom apps would be great to have little help from PMPC getting the detection of the app, if you dont have a mac to repackage open pkgs or dmgs can be very hard to get the detection bundle info plist etc.. so if you can help us with that , I will appreciate a lot

It would allow us to manage our applications in a central location. Currently with Windows, thanks to the custom app support we can manage all Windows Intune apps from PatchMyPC, with the same templates, assignments, and update/deployment rings. PatchMyPC also has an easier interface for some of our less experienced team members and can help to keep details such as logos / descriptions more consistent.

However, with macOS while you do provide a catalogue, we now have to go back to Intune and manage apps in 2 locations for anything not listed, as you have no custom app functionality like the Windows custom app. This just adds extra locations our team has to look for apps to update, audit assignments, and make changes etc

    Hi everyone,

We’d love to hear more about why this feature would be useful for you.

At the moment, Cloud Portal macOS apps include the dmg/pkg file, but they don’t yet support the same customizations we offer for Windows apps.

If we were to build a custom app for macOS, it would still need to be set up manually, similar to how you currently add an installer file (dmg/pkg) in the Intune Admin Center.
