After a SCCM/MEMCM Upgrade, all consoles need to be upgraded. Currently PMPC doesn't create a deployment for the MECM Console. If it could somehow check the MEMCM infra version, and then pull the console.exe and then deploy it. The console self-updates, but that only works if that account has access to the MEMCM system AND has local admin rights.
This would definately be a boon for us. We tend to do the updates overnight and alot of people start up the console ignoring the message to update; either because they can't be bothered, it fails as someone else is already using it (most users use it from multi session terminals servers) or because they don't have admin right. Potentially a PMPC package deployed by ConfigMgr could up automatically upgrade the console before people get in or at least kill all the processes before it is attempted.
It would be even better if to could also create the update package but I realise that could be more complicated to automate.
Having Patch my PC being able to include SCCM console upgrade as part of Updates/Apps would be a benefit, as the original submission mentions you have to be Local Admin for Self-Upgrade to work , as well seems the SCCM console loves to be on TS boxes with multiple people using and its a pain(anything manual is a pain) to get multiple Console closed in multiple places.
if Patch My PC could make it part of updates then its a set and forget they all get upgrded when patched (or if user manages to get it upgraded them selves then thats still fine.)
Its more the base app we need here
The console has autoupdated for many versions now, I don't understand why this is needed.
+1
This is a PITA to keep updated!
Thanks for the request, we will be monitoring this item!
And of course with PatchMyPC being able to auto create applications for deployment as well, it would be nice to have the MEMCM console as an available deployment to my IT team.
