Currently, Patch My PC provides valuable insights such as battery health and disk health, which give administrators a quick overview of a device’s condition.
We suggest extending this concept to a broader Device Health Insights feature set.
Examples of useful metrics could include:
SIM card information: Which SIM card is in the device (carrier, phone number, IMSI/ICCID).
Connectivity health: Signal strength or last connected network.
Other hardware insights: Potentially expand to cover fan/thermal status, TPM state, or additional system health signals available through WMI/Windows APIs.
Why it is useful
IT admins could proactively monitor and troubleshoot issues without needing to access the device directly.
Helps in asset management and support, especially for mobile workforce and field devices.
Provides a single pane of glass for both software patching and hardware health, reducing the need for additional tools.
Who would benefit
Organizations managing laptops with built-in LTE modems or devices used in the field.
Support/helpdesk teams diagnosing device issues remotely.
IT asset management teams needing visibility into device connectivity and overall health.
Mobile Device Management in on-premise ConfigMgr has long since been deprecated and the functionality shifted to Intune, with only the Exchange Server Connector left as a very basic device management level. If you are aware of how/where ConfigMgr can get data related to SIM card info and connection details please elaborate. With regard to hardware properties for desktop/laptop devices then we are more than willing to look into advanced performance metrics (we already cover TPM and battery health) but some system properties might only be available via vendor specific tools.
