Oftentimes when there are a bunch of applications to update, at least one of them autoupdates itself while other ones are being updated. In order to minimize downloads, I would find it helpful, if the home updater would re-scan each app it intends to update the moment before the download starts and only then finally decide whether it needs an update or not.

This already happens today, when you click Start Updater, it will re-evaluate the local installed apps before downloading updates.
