We are looking to keep our ConfigMgr and Intune app lists clean, and want to leverage the PMPC publisher to do so while maintaining older versions still in use. Currently, we can do this for ConfigMgr, but not for Intune:
- In ConfigMgr Options we have configured the following:
○ Under 'When a New Application Update is Available'
§ We have the radio button 'Create a new application without modifying any previous applications' selected
§ We have the 'Retain up to 1 previously created applications' checkbox checked
§ We have the 'Delete applications even if they have a deployment' checkbox unchecked
Intune seems to be missing this feature:
- In Intune Options we have configured the following:
○ Under 'Intune Win32 Application Options'
§ We have the 'Delete any previously created applications when an updated application is published' checkbox checked
□ We have it set to retain up to 1 previously created application
For Intune, there is no explicit option to prevent deletion of an app older than the version we're retaining if there's still a deployment configured.
In testing, we recently had a widely deployed app deleted unexpectedly as a new version was published.
This was tested across multiple apps in Intune using PatchMyPC publisher 2.1.25.0.
We think it would be really helpful to mirror that functionality from ConfigMgr to Intune to allow us to keep Intune clean while not inadvertently deleting other apps. In the short term, due to the gap, we can't use that feature for Intune apps
