Dave, kindly see the previous comments. The MSI seems to be different for each environment as it embeds connection details for your instance/tenant. With that in mind, it's not going to be possible to support.
We would also love this application , even if there is a way for us to submit or upload the custom MSI to PMP for just install / validation only , as the app will self update from the ConnectWise Portal.
From an early comment in this request you can see that link was previously shared and discussed. In short: that is the MSI for the server-side software. Not the client-side agent (which I believe is the primary request here). I'll be surprised if you're deploying ConnectWise Control server to all of your endpoints.
I then upload it to Intune and roll it out. How's the installer gathering info from my Connectwise control server? Forgive me if it's taking me time to understand this better.
In short: your installer gathered from your ConnectWise Control server will be unique to your instance of ConnectWise Control. Therefore how can we perform hash validation for the installer across all our customers? The hash will be different for every environment.
Hi Adam - I currently roll out the Connectwise remote control client through an Intune portal for all my users. It works out of the box without setting any custom parameters. Can I connect you with Connectwise support team so we can get this squared away? May need your email address to add you to the support email chain.
That is unfortunate but understandable from PatchMyPC's standpoint. Hopefully connectwise can make a universal installer available that you can just insert parameters via script so that we can use this solution to patch it. Thanks!
The largest issue with that is the MSI you download will be unique to your environment; the hash of the installer will be different for probably all our customers. In our catalogue, and as per this article, we require to record the hash of the installer - the Publisher validates the hash before publishing. This is true for local content repository apps, too.
The client is downloadable via logging into the web client of the server. I could provide a test client installer for you to play around with. I think you would have to end up going the way of the Teamviewer client where the updated file has to exist on the deployment server somewhere.
The client is seemingly not downloadable as a standalone binary. The link attached to this request is for the server-side application ConnectWise Control.
If this is in reference to deploying and updating the Connectwise Control ScreenConnectClient I absolutely upvote this. If this is talking about updating Connectwise Control itself I see where that could be tricky.
I had not thought that through when I voted on this request. I believe you are correct that it would be access agent installers rather than a generic installer. I rescind my vote as server-side is not what would benefit my organization and the process by which the agent access installers work doesn't appear to lend itself to pre-staging functionality for the org. Thank you for your time on it. -Chris
I just installed the MSI from the link you gave me and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the server-side application and not the agent? After installing the MSI it launched a web browser on port 8040 for a setup wizard.
I don't think we're against adding server-side software to our catalogue, I just wanted clarify in case the expectation this was client software and you intended to patch clients, not your (potentially one) server running the server-side piece.
It's possible I've misunderstood the architecture of the product, so please correct me if I'm wrong. It is a straight forward product to add to our catalogue, though, after doing some initial testing.
added my votes as well ... we've worked to remove local admin rights from our users and administration has identified that it is a struggle for Help Desk to work with users when they cannot install the remote tool.
Absolutely, that feature would solve this problem. It's not currently on our roadmap but there is effort happening internally to make this possible: https://ideas.patchmypc.com/ideas/PATCHMYPC-I-1303
Adam , this is a shame , is there no way in the future PMP can do a feature of custom msi upload ?

thanks for explaining Adam. Question - the installer I use is downloaded directly from their website. https://control.connectwise.com/download

@Elman, kindly read the comments in this request.

For this reason, it's not possible at this time.

any further luck with this app? I feel like we need this too.

I have very limited working knowledge of this product but I think you need to build agent installers within the ConnectWise Control admin portal: https://docs.connectwise.com/ConnectWise_Control_Documentation/Get_started/Host_page/Build_an_access_agent_installer

Will package and patch manually for now, but PMP support for this tool would be ideal. Downloads can be found at: https://control.connectwise.com/download
