Some programs does not start automatically after update/installation, looking at you Cisco š .
Currently this can only be achieved with a combination of post-installation scripts and scheduled tasks. This being quite a hassle to develop for each app, it would be neat to have a built-in option to force a start of the app, when it is done installing/updating.
I've noticed this with MS Teams updates too. The app is always running when a user is logged in, but must be closed to update. Because users could be in a call, we prompt them to allow the update. At the end of the update, because they app doesn't restart there user is not able to receive calls or IMs.
They're not used to thinking about whether Teams is running or manually starting it, in normal operation it starts automatically at login and just runs in the background the whole time. It's only when the Intune/Patch My PC update runs that it's not automatically there.
Thanks for the Idea @Guest - I've noted this Feature Request and will discuss with the Development team if it's possible and should be taken into consideration or if more Clarification is needed.
change return code action, 0 = reboot.

+999 cisco jabber...
We would also like this especially for apps for that have conflicting processes configured. The process must close to update, but if it was open, then it should re-open when the update is complete.
Has there been any update on this? Zoom still doesn't launch after update, and Zoom has become rather popular over the last 3 years.
This has been requested by my company also. We use the custom notification to allow colleagues to defer or close apps during the update...but it would be great if there was an option to automatically re-launch the application post update.
Zoom and Jabber are prime examples of where this would be great
it would be nice for those apps that dont have such setting or depend on a service
+1 eventually also set the app shortcut to the startup folder shell:startup and then just launch it or not
