Could you all add an option to the publisher service where new products and vendors can be automatically ticked for at least metadata. I found that you all added a new product the other week and i had to go in and tick it... i would prefer it just happen automatically for me
Makes sense! This feature request is an area we know we need to improve soon. I expect after the application creation feature is released (Targeting July) this will be one of the higher priorities for my engineering team to complete!
I guess it would depend on the customer and what they would rather do... there are some products that we don't want auto deployed ever. Our firewall prevents access to the product site for the download or the product being upgraded would cause issues (we had a requirement for a specific version of Citrix Reciever for a while - upgrading would have broke us). For us, we'd prefer to always just get the metadata automatically but I can see the use case where others would want what you describe. Thanks Justin
Great idea, another feature that may accomplish what you are looking for that we have been thinking about from an engineering side is to have an option to run the scan SCCM installed applications on a schedule automatically. Based on the results, you could configure products to auto-enable based on the installed count.
For example, if installed count > 1 and < 9 auto-enable product with metadata if installed count > 10 auto-enable product for full-content publishing.
Thoughts on this feature vs. just enabling everything new with metadata?
Now available in build 1.5.1 https://patchmypc.com/automatically-enroll-products-based-on-sccm-inventory-scans
This is now available in the preview channel. We created a feature to auto-enable new products based on SCCM scans.
